Principal of Comilla Collectorate School and College M. General students protested to demand the resignation of Nargis Akhtar. Around 11 am on Sunday (August 18), students gathered and started a protest march on the college campus. Hundreds of students of the institution participated in the procession.
During this time, the students started chanting slogans like ‘Dafa one demand one, principal’s resignation’, ‘Dafa one demand one, Nargis’ resignation, there is no place for corrupt people in our institution’.
Meanwhile, although educational institutions were open on Sunday, ordinary students did not participate in any class activities at Comilla Collector School and College. Students say they will not participate in class activities until principal M Nargis resigns.
The students also complained that they are doing corruption in various sectors of the college and school. They have stolen lakhs of rupees from us by corruption at various times on the basis of examination fees, fines etc. We do not want such corrupt principals in our institution. What will students learn where the principal is corrupt? We will continue this protest until the principal resigns.
Meanwhile, the students complained and said that two outsiders were brought by Principal Nargis to attack the students in the institution. One of them escaped but the other was handed over to the army.
Meanwhile, at 12:30 p.m., when the students became angry, the army along with the law and order forces came and tried to control the situation. At one point, a delegation sent by the District Commissioner came and tried to control the situation by explaining to the students.
Later, Negarat Deputy Collector (NDC) Kaniz Fatema, head of the delegation sent by the District Commissioner, signed a letter of consent to the students assuring the mandatory resignation of the principal.
When asked about this, Kaniz Fatema said that our investigation process has been completed regarding the corruption allegations against Principal Nargis. On the 20th of August, we all of the board will decide on his corruption issues. We have assured the students in this regard and I have given them a consent letter assuring them in this regard.
In this regard, Muhammad Rashedul Hasan, Coordinator of Comilla District Student Movement Against Discrimination, said, We have heard the demands of the students. We have spoken to the Deputy Commissioner about this. They have assured us to submit the report very soon.
It should be noted that on April 28 of this year, the principal of Collectorate School and College M. Several local and national newspapers had reported corruption and irregularities in various sectors of Nargis Akhter’s organization. In this regard, the teachers and parents of the institution submitted complaints to the Deputy Commissioner, but no action was taken by the Deputy Commissioner.
