A torch procession was held yesterday in front of the Shahbag National Museum by the initiative of students and public demanding the removal of Deputy Director of the Narcotics Control Department Dhaka Metro North Office, Mr. Shamim Ahmed. The procession passed through Bangla Motor from Shahbag and ended in front of the museum in Shahbag. Students and general public from various colleges and universities participated in the procession.
After the torch procession, the speakers said that since Swami Ahmed took charge of the Dhaka Metro North Office, there has been a surge in open drug trafficking in Gulshan, Banani, Dhanmondi, Uttara, Mohammadpur, Mirpur, Badda, Rampura, Ramna areas. All types of drugs including Yaba, Phensedyl, Ganja, Heroin, Bhang, Viagra, Ethyl are available everywhere.
During this time, the protesting students and the public said that teenagers are freely traveling to every bar under the Dhaka Metro North office, which is a terrible scar for the future generation. They also said that obscene dances, songs and money laundering are going on freely, behind which is the umbrella of this Shamim Ahmed circle.
It is known that the officer in charge of the Gulshan area, SI Nazmul, is associated with this Shamim.
After the torch procession, they demanded the removal of Shamim Ahmed within the next 72 hours and said that if he is not removed within 72 hours, a march to the Narcotics Control Directorate will be announced with thousands of students and the students.
In this regard, Shamim Ahmed, who is accused in the student crowd’s complaint, could not be taken for a statement despite repeated attempts to get his statement.
