Hijla Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Mohammad Alam is conducting a day-night operation to house arrest unscrupulous fishermen, protect Jhatka Hilsa, and seize 97,000 meters of illegal current nets.
In line with this, a joint operation was conducted in various rivers of Hijla and Mehendiganj Upazilas from 7 pm on April 21 to 11 am on April 22, and a trawler with about 16 tons of Jhatka and 97,000 meters of illegal nets were seized.
Under the leadership of Hijla Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Mohammad Alan, Coast Guard Hijla Contingent Commander Md. Husnur Zaman Salami and Naval Police Hijla Officer-in-Charge Md. Ahiduzzaman along with Hijla Fisheries Office Assistant Rakib Hossain participated in the joint operation. Later, the seized jhatka was distributed among the poor including various orphanages. In this regard, Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Mohammad Alam said, “Unscrupulous fishermen will not be allowed to catch jhatka in any river of Hijla Upazila, our campaign is continuing, and no one found with illegal nets in the river will be spared.”
