Against those causing disruption to public movement in Sylhet city . Former Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation, Central Leader of BNP Ariful Haque Chowdhury has taken various initiatives during his tenure.

He made enemies of many by keeping the city free from traffic jams and keeping the sidewalks open for public movement.
The time was of the Awami League government, so the hawker legs syndicate was formed to slander the mayor in various ways and to occupy the sidewalk by destroying the name of the government party.

Even though there is no league at the center, the Hawker League, which was formed only to survive the Ariful Haque Chowdhury campaign of Swachh Mewar and to keep the footpath, took out a welcome procession on the occasion of the arrival of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina in Sylhet.
