Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the northern region of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), said in a road meeting organized at Bakultala intersection in Birol upazila of Dinajpur on Wednesday afternoon, May 28, 2025, that the reputation of officials who have done good work in the administration and the bad reputation of officials who have done bad work should be highlighted. He called on the people to spread this information across the country through social media.
At the meeting, he said that many are harassing people by filing cases. There is still a tendency to take bribes in police stations and land offices. The people have to be vocal about this issue. Otherwise, the spirit from which this journey of the ‘July Movement’ is based will not be successful.
Sarjis Alam also said that oppression will also come upon those who are oppressing. Sheikh Hasina is a big example of this. Drug dealers and extortionists are working under the umbrella of some political party or the other. But their power is not greater than Sheikh Hasina. Just as Sheikh Hasina was forced to flee the country, it is also possible to defeat such miscreants.
He said, not only the leader must be good, voters must also be responsible. Do not ruin your future by voting for bad people in exchange for small benefits. In the next elections, choose honest and qualified candidates, not parties or brands. Sheikh Hasina has ruined the country’s administrative and social structure during her 15-year rule. However, these reforms will take time and require active participation of the people.
The meeting was attended by NCP joint convener Sarwar Tushar, joint chief organizers Abu Sayeed Lyon and Sadia Farzana Dina, central member Imamur Rashid, Dinajpur district convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Ekramul Haque Abir, and Dinajpur convener of the Workers’ Union Rezail Islam, along with local leaders and activists.
After the meeting, NCP leaders discussed various problems and solutions with the local people.
