Rohingyas are collecting relief to stand by the flood victims in various districts including Feni, Comilla, Khagrachari, Chittagong and Noakhali.
Osma Ibrahim, a Rohingya youth working in relief collection, said that after collecting cash and rice from various camps including Kutupalong, Palongkhali, Balukhali in Ukhia, the camp will be handed over to the relevant administration under the leadership of Rohingya mazhis (leaders).
Osma said, when we took refuge in Bangladesh to escape the persecution of the Myanmar army, the people of Bangladesh gave us shelter. Now flood has occurred in Bivini area of ​​Bangladesh. People are in danger. So we extend our hand of support to our brothers.
He said, under the leadership of the head majids of different camps, their subordinate majids are collecting and depositing cash and rice. These reliefs and cash will be handed over to the government officials through the mediators.
The Rohingyas said about the collection of relief, not on behalf of any organization or under the leadership, these reliefs are being collected by the joint initiative of ordinary Rohingyas, including the majhi of the Rohingya camp and muhtamim of various madrasas. They are collecting relief from house to house. Ordinary Rohingyas are cooperating with some money and some rice.
B Block Head Majhi Abu Hasim said, “We started collecting relief from Monday (26 August). About 50 sacks of rice came from my block. Inshallah more will come.
Maulana Ilyas, Director of Markazul Maarif Madrasa said, “We cannot forget the year 2017. Even before this, when the Rohingyas were subjected to torture, the people of Bangladesh stood by us. Now people of Bangladesh are affected by flood. So we are extending our hand of support as much as we can from our relief. Our small efforts will continue.
Maulana Rahmat Karim, Director of Madrasa Belal Radiyallahu Anhu of the Rohingya camp said, “We have no source of income. I live with the help of international organizations. Still, we have tried to stand by the people of Bangladesh as much as we can from our own relief.
