Commuters have expressed relief as the Metrorail has reopened after more than a month of closure. Now they can travel to their destination on time. But the road under the metro rail is as heavy as before. A new dimension has been added to the suffering of traffic congestion by blocking the road and demanding the movement of some parties.

According to the Metrorail authorities, Mirpur-10 and Kazipara stations were damaged during the anti-discrimination student movement. It will take time for these two stations to become operational. So excluding these two stations, Metrorail will start passenger transport from 7:10 am on Sunday (August 25) in the remaining stations.

Amir Uddin went to Secretariat station by metro rail from Uttara Uttar station at 10 am. He got off the metrorail
He told the media that after the Metrorail was launched last year, I got used to traveling in this public transport. Due to the closure of Metrorail for 37 days, traffic congestion has to be suffered. A 25-minute road journey takes one and a half to two hours.

He said that there is a lot of happiness among the passengers as the metro rail started today. Everyone wants only one thing, that the metro movement does not stop.

At 11 o’clock Habib Hasan took metro rail from Secretariat station to Mirpur station number 11. Before getting on the metro, he said, in the morning he went to Paltan from Mirpur for a job. After finishing work, he took the metro again. Today’s commute was very comfortable.

However, although there is relief in metro rail travel, severe traffic jams have been created in almost all the roads of Dhaka since morning. Among them, traffic congestion was more on Mohakhali to Kakrail, Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue, Mirpur Road.

And the protestors have blocked the road in front of the National Press Club to demand various demands. Traffic has been stopped on all the surrounding roads. Traffic jams have reached extreme levels.

Altab Hossain was walking from Shahbagh to Paltan. He said, I sat for an hour in the bus at Shahbagh because the road was blocked at the press club. Later I got down from the bus and started walking. There is no justification for blocking the road in the name of collecting demands.
