RAJUK Chairman inspects Kuril, Purbachal water supply projects and Tongi industrial area

RAJUK Chairman Engineer Md. Riazul Islam inspected Kuril, Purbachal water supply projects and Tongi industrial area under the jurisdiction of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartik (RAJUK). During this time, he inspected the ongoing development activities in the said areas under the jurisdiction of RAJUK and the illegally occupied RAJUK lands.

Chairman, RAJUK visited the area to assess the feasibility of constructing a 2 (two) lane road in the Kuratoli area of Kuril-Purbachal Link Road and the lower part of the elevated expressway and at the junction of Kuril Purbachal Link Road and Pragati Sarani to ease the severe traffic congestion in the Kuril area under the project titled “Excavation and Development of 100 Feet Wide Canal on Both Sides of Kuril-Purbachal Link Road” (from Kuril to Balu River) and to verify the feasibility of removing the boundary wall of Plaza-3 under construction under the project for the residents of the adjacent areas. During the inspection, it was decided to conduct a digital survey of the land on both the east and west sides of the road from the Pragati Sarani-Kuril junction to the lower part of the elevated expressway to Kuril Purbachal Link Road.

Then the RAJUK Chairman inspected the progress of the implementation of the Purbachal Water Supply (PPP) project. United Delcot Water Ltd. is the partner of the project. The estimated cost of the project signed in 2019 is 592.39 crore taka, of which RAJUK will spend 299.80 crore taka. During the inspection, the RAJUK Chairman inspected the pump and supply system of the project.

Then the inspection team along with the RAJUK Chairman visited the Tongi Industrial Area. Where the Chairman expressed strong dissatisfaction with the illegal establishments built by completely occupying the approved 60 feet of the road. When a shop was found in the middle of the road, it was immediately closed. At this time, measures were taken to stop the construction of a mosque under construction by occupying the road space. At this time, the RAJUK Chairman said, “In this way, the illegal establishments built by occupying the road space must be immediately evicted and the proposed road must be constructed for the development of the industrial area.” He said that a mobile court will be run to evict illegal shops, small warehouses and other establishments.

Then the RAJUK Chairman went to the RAJUK Uttara Apartment Project and inspected the progress of various under-construction facilities including mosques, temples, swimming pools in the complex. He said that initiatives will be taken to plant trees in the open areas of the said facilities. At the same time, he ordered that the construction work of the said facilities be done quickly and with the highest standards. During the inspection of the RAJUK Uttara Apartment Project, he inspected the unauthorized food court under construction near the said area and the metro rail station and ordered to immediately stop the construction work there and the owner to come to the RAJUK building and show cause.

RAJUK Member (Development Control) Mr. Mohd. Harun-or-Rashid and various officials of RAJUK were also present in today’s inspection.
