Jhalakathi Correspondent: The head of the institution invited two Upazila Awami League leaders to the 58th annual award distribution ceremony of Rajapur Government Pilot Girls High School in Rajapur, Jhalakathi. The matter has created discussion and criticism in the area. Political leaders and activists have expressed anger at the headmaster for inviting Awami League leaders to a program at the school after the July Uprising. It is learned that the headmaster of the school, Zohra Begum PP, invited Awami League leaders to the award distribution ceremony. The headmaster hid the Awami League guests from the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, who was the chief guest of the program. He did not invite anyone from any other political party to the program. Even the Upazila Secondary Education Officer does not know about the 58th annual award distribution ceremony of Rajapur Government Pilot Girls High School.
The then Mujib Bahini Rajapur Upazila branch chief, Upazila Awami League member and former UP chairman of the A.L. Md. Nur Hossain and Upazila Awami League Education and Human Resources Secretary Md. Amir Khasru Babul participated as guests in the program. On Thursday afternoon, May 22, the 58th annual award distribution ceremony of Rajapur Government Pilot Girls High School was held. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rahul Chandra was the chief guest at the program. The matter came to light on Sunday. The video of the award distribution with Awami League leaders by their side was seen on social media. This has created controversy in various quarters.
In this regard, Zohra Begum PP, headmaster of Rajapur Government Pilot Girls High School, said, “I invited them as guests as they are former teachers of this institution. I did not invite any party members and I do not belong to any party.”
Upazila Secondary Education Officer Mostafa Alam said, Zohra Begum PP, the head teacher of Rajapur Government Pilot Girls High School, did not inform us about the event at her school. However, I have heard about it. It is very sad. Appropriate action will be taken against the head teacher after talking to the higher authorities.
Upazila Executive Officer Rahul Chandra said, “We went to share the joy with the students.”
I have asked the school principal Zohra Begum PP several times who the other guests will be at the event. Then she said that you are the only guest at the event. There will be no one else besides you. At the end of the event, I came to know that two or three of those who were with us were followers of the Awami League government or were associated with them in some way, which is very sad. I have informed the authorities, I have also informed the government school authorities that they have. You will see the reflection of this very soon.
