Rajapur Correspondent: A doa and Milad Mahfil was held in Rajapur, Jhalakathi, on the occasion of the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP founder, proclaimer of the great liberation war, advocate of multi-party democracy and martyred President of Bangladesh Ziaur Rahman. The doa and mahfil was held at the initiative of Habibur Rahman Selim Reza, president of New York Metropolitan South BNP and BNP nomination hopeful for Jhalakathi-1 (Rajapur, Kathalia) constituency. At 4 pm on Friday, Habibur Rahman Selim Reza, a BNP candidate for Jhalokati-1 constituency, Upazila BNP Organizing Secretary Adv. Noor Hossain, former President and Vice Chairman of Yubdal Md. Zakaria Sumon, former DU student leader Mahfuzur Rahman, Yubdal leader Haider Sikder, Rajapur Sadar Union BNP President Tuku Mridha, etc., spoke at the prayer program organized by Habibur Rahman Selim Reza at his office in Naikathi Bazar. The speakers at the prayer program recalled the sacrifice of Ziaur Rahman. They said that Shaheed Zia is a symbol of democracy, development and sovereignty of the country. His honesty, patriotism and morality of love should be cherished. The prayer mahfil prayed for the forgiveness of the martyr’s soul and prayed for the welfare of the country and the liberation of the people. Later, food items were distributed among the distressed and flood-affected families. At that time, leaders and activists of the Upazila BNP and its affiliated organizations were present. The local people welcomed this activity of Selim Reza and reiterated their commitment to stand by Selim Reza.
