The protest rally was held as part of the central program of the National Power Workers Union (Reg. No. B-1886). The protest rally was held in front of the office of the manager of Kaptai Pani Power Plant on Wednesday (May 21) morning. The workers and employees of the Power Development Board presented five-point demands in the rally.

participated. Before the rally began, a protest procession from the Plan Office office circled the Kaptai Power Plant premises and a protest rally was held in front of the manager’s office. The rally was presided over by Joint Secretary Kazi Abdul Hannan and chaired by Md. Belal Hossain, President of the National Power Workers’ Union Kaptai branch.

The speakers at this time all demanded that the APA bonus and pending OT and TA bills be paid and leave encashment should be continued as per the previous rules before Eid-ul-Azha. The speakers also said that the corrupt officials and employees who are allies of fascism should be identified and brought to justice. They called for the arrest and administrative action against those involved in the attack on the leaders and activists of the organization at the Bidyut Bhaban on March 20, 2025, and the false cases. They demanded that harassing transfers be stopped and canceled; 3, 5 and 9 year bars outside the service rules be canceled and all vacant posts be appointed immediately. In addition, the demand for permanent appointment of the dependents of deceased officials and employees and those employed on temporary basis, ‘no work, no wages’, daily wage, RFO, piece rate employees was also raised. The speakers urged all the participants in the rally to remain united in the movement to realize their demands.
