Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka for Switzerland this morning to attend the ‘World of Work Summit: Social Justice for All’ to be held in Geneva from June 14 to 15. A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:14 am. At the airport, Minister for Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haque, Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader, Deputy Leader of Parliament Begum Matia Chowdhury, Council of Ministers Secretary, Chief Secretary, Chief of three forces, Inspector General of Police and Head of Diplomatic Corps bid farewell to the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at Geneva International Airport at 5pm local time. After the formalities at the airport, she will proceed to her tour accommodation. Apart from attending the Prime Minister’s Conference, Swiss Confederation President Alain Barset, Malta President George Vella, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, Prince Rahim Aga Khan, International Labor Organization (ILO) Director General Gilbert F Houngbo, World Economic Forum (WEF) Founder Klaus Schwab and World Trade Organization Director General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala will meet. Apart from this, he will meet with the heads of states of different countries and heads of various international organizations.
On the second day of the visit, the Prime Minister will participate in the plenary session of the ‘World for Work Summit 2023’ on Wednesday (June 14). On the morning of the third day, the Prime Minister will participate in the program titled ‘New Economy and Society in Smart Bangladesh’ organized by the World Economic Forum. In the afternoon, she will attend the civic reception organized by the expatriate Bangladeshi community living in Switzerland.
After her visit to Switzerland, she will leave for Dhaka from Geneva International Airport on Friday (June 16) at around 11 am local time.
