Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Mirpur-Kalshi flyover. He inaugurated the 2.34 km long flyover by unveiling a plaque at a function organized at Kalshi Balur ground on Sunday (February 18) at 10:50 am. At the same time, the Prime Minister inaugurated the 6-lane elevated road from ECB Chattar to Mirpur. Then Bangabandhu’s daughter participated in the prayer there. Local Government Minister Tajul Islam welcomed the Prime Minister with flowers when he reached the venue. Earlier, Ecnec had approved the project on January 9, 2018. It was supposed to be completed in June this year. The work was completed about 4 months ago. The authorities say that since the flyover is open, communication with the airport, Uttara, Badda, Banani and Mohakhali will be easy. From the ECB premises, one can directly go to Pallavi or Mirpur via this runway. Mirpur 11, 12, Pallavi to ECB Chatwar no need to stop anywhere else. Airport can be reached from Mirpur within 10 to 15 minutes. Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam said that the flyover is a big reward for the people of Mirpur. There will be no traffic jams. Footpaths and cycle lanes have been built under the flyover. Two footover bridges have also been constructed. The road has been made to run smoothly under the flyover. Mayor Atiq said that due to the opening of this road of 37.2 meters width and about four kilometers, the traffic congestion will be reduced a lot. The length of the main flyover is 2,335 meters. There are five ramps of 475 meters. The number of girders of this runway standing on 68 spans is 17. BNCC and Bangladesh Army (24 Engineer Construction Brigade) completed the project at a cost of Tk 1,120 crore.
