Press Conference by Anti-Discrimination Leaders: Immediate Arrest Demanded for Protesters Calling for Advisor’s Resignation in Cumilla

In Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla, a protest demanding the resignation of advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan was carried out with the alleged intent of defamation by conspirators and collaborators of autocracy. However, the Cumilla District branch of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement claimed in a press conference that no members of their Muradnagar branch were involved in the protest.
The press conference was held on Thursday (May 1) at the Cumilla Press Club.
On behalf of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Cumilla district, the speakers strongly condemned and protested this disgraceful incident. They also demanded that those behind the conspiracy be swiftly brought to justice.
They further stated, “Dear brothers and sisters of Cumilla, you all know that under the strong leadership of Advisor Mr. Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan — one of the key leaders of the July Uprising — we have envisioned and achieved a new Bangladesh.”
They also reminded the public of the historic decision from the “Long March to Dhaka,” where a pivotal announcement was made: “The Long March to Dhaka will be on the 5th, not the 6th.” This declaration was made by Asif Mohammad Sajib Bhuiyan.
“We all believe that with collective efforts — regardless of party, ideology, or religion — and with everyone’s participation, we have brought about a new Bangladesh through the uprising. We will continue to receive support as part of this momentum,” they said.
Present at the press conference were Md. Sakib Hossain, Convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Cumilla District; Yasin Arafat Himu, Member Secretary; Delwar Hossain, Joint Convener; senior organizer Billal Hossain, and many others.
