Port Nationalist Workers’ Party holds sit-in strike and symbolic hunger strike demanding cancellation of illegal agreements with foreigners

Aminul Haque Shaheen, Chittagong: On May 28, at the initiative of the Chittagong Port Nationalist Workers’ Party, a sit-in strike and symbolic hunger strike was held in front of the Port Building under the chairmanship of Humayun Kabir to protest the privatization of the NCT of Chittagong Port. Conducted by Manjurul Parvez Suman and Abdur Rouf Liton, Nationalist Workers’ Party Chief Coordinator Ibrahim Khokon said that if the government does not withdraw from this anti-national agreement, a four-hour strike will be observed at the Chittagong Port on June 22. All terminals built with the port’s funding will have to be operated by the port itself. They cannot be handed over to any local or foreigner. The BCP Container Terminal agreement must be canceled. The agreement made with the workers and employees must be implemented. The chief guest at the meeting was Kazi Sheikh Nurullah Bahar, Joint General Secretary of the Chittagong Nationalist Workers’ Party. The special guests were Metropolitan BNP Joint Convener Shafiqur Rahman, Metropolitan BNP member Hanif Sawdagar, former General Secretary of Bandar Thana BNP Zahidul Hasan, former President of EPZ Thana BNP Sarfaraz Quader Russell, former Vice President of Bandar Thana BNP Hasan Murad, Doc Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal President Taslim Hossain Selim, General Secretary Humayun Kabir, Sramik Dal member Sirajul Islam, Ward 37 BNP leader Mujibur Rahman Badal, Metropolitan Youth Dal Deputy General Secretary Saifuddin, Md. Kamrul Islam, Md. Nirab, Shamsur Rahman Swapan, Rezaul Haque, Khandaker Masudur Zaman, Shahabuddin, Mirza Hamidul Akhter, Sohag Hossain, Khandaker Raju Ahmed, Shamsu Mia Tuku, Md. Zahid Hossain, Abdul Matin Gani, Abdullah Al Mamun, Masudur Rahman, Saiful Alam, Md. Karim Babu, Md. Akhter Hossain Khan, Md. Tutul, Md. Ershad, Md. Farid Akhter, Afsar Uddin Pakhi and other leaders spoke at the event.
