Pakistan High Commissioner Syed Ahmad Maruf had a courtesy call on Advisor to Ministry of Textiles and Jute and Shipping Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hussain at Secretariat office on Tuesday (September 3).
In the meeting, Advisor to Textile and Jute Ministry M Sakhawat asked Pakistani investors to come forward to invest in the closed state-owned textile and jute mills in Bangladesh . Investors can invest in jute and textile and other related sectors.
In response, Pakistan’s High Commissioner Ahmad Maruf expressed interest in the investment. Bhuyasi praised the golden bag made from this country’s jute . Bangladesh has been invited in advance to participate in the Pakistan Textile Expo in October .
The Secretary of Textile and Jute Ministry, Md. Abdur Rauf emphasized on increasing commercial relations between the two countries and requested the attention of Pakistani businessmen to import versatile jute products to Pakistan.
The ministry urged Pakistani traders to import more than 200 varieties of jute products at the exhibition center of JDPC.
After that, Pakistan’s High Commissioner Ahmad Maruf proposed to start a direct shipping system between Pakistan and Bangladesh and said that it will advance the socio-economic relations of the two countries. Bangladesh Shipping Corporation and Pakistan Shipping Corporation can work jointly in the sale.
In response to this, M Sakhawat, advisor to the Ministry of Shipping, said that he will work with the relevant officials of the ministry directly on the issue of shipping. To strengthen the relationship between the two countries, investment, communication and friendship between the two countries should be increased .
