The contractor has been accused of not reporting the goods including iron beams of the old government iron bridge in Rajapur of Jhalkathi to the authorities. Some of these goods were transported in a trolley car to the Upazila Parishad square on Sunday night .The upazila engineer said. A contractor named Syed Enterprises started the construction of a bridge in Shuktagarh No. 8 area of Shuktagarh Union of Upazila. It is reported that the people of the iron goods contracting company are taking the iron bars along with the beams of the old iron bridge there without informing the upazila administration or the upazila engineer. On the initiative of LGED officials, the contractor’s people conveyed a carload of iron goods to the upazila LGED department at around 10:30 pm. The iron goods of another car of the government bridge have not been recovered yet. Workers working on the bridge said that the contractor’s men took the iron goods along with the beams of the old bridge in two shifts in the afternoon and at night. We deliver the goods to the car. Awami League senior vice-president of Shuktagarh Union No. 8 Saikat Ahmed Saiful said that an old bridge is breaking in our area. Yesterday afternoon, after getting the news that the goods including the iron beam of the bridge were being taken away by the contractor Milan Bhai’s people, I rushed and told them that it was the goods of the Parishad. Then they said that work is going on on the other side and we will take these goods there. After that I called the local UP member and he asked to inform the UP Chairman Beauty Sikdar. When I told the chairman over the phone, he said I am looking into the matter. Within a few moments the contractor’s guy got a call and they said we (Chairman’s man) Talking to Murad. After that, when I called Murad, he said that we have spoken to him, he will take the goods to the other side and then submit them to the council again. In this regard, Syed Milan, the proprietor of Syed Enterprises, said that my people were carrying some of the goods of the bridge involved in the tender, which were later handed over to them last night on the instructions of the authorities of LGED. Rajapur Upazila Parishad Chairman Principal Moniruzzaman Monir said that the goods of Iron Bridge are the property of our Upazila Parishad. Bridge material upazila engineering office will explain to us. It is their responsibility. Transfer of goods without permission of Upazila Parishad is illegal. Rajapur Upazila Engineer Abhijit Majumder said, we have come to know the contractor Breez’s goods were taken away without informing us. Later, when we contacted the contractor, he explained some goods to us. What goods are missing cannot be understood unless Caesar lists them. However, legal action will be taken against the contractor if the entire goods are not explained to us.
