There are 57 member countries of OIC. An extraordinary meeting of the organization was held in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday (August 7) local time. According to a statement, Israel, the illegal occupier, is fully responsible for this heinous attack. They committed a “serious violation” of Iran’s sovereignty by carrying out such an attack and killing Haniya.

Gambia currently leads the OIC. The country’s foreign minister, Mamadou Tangara, said Hania’s “heinous” killings and the ongoing war in Gaza could lead to a regional conflict.

He said that by killing a political leader on the soil of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the country’s sovereignty is violated
and territorial integrity has been violated. The gruesome killings could escalate existing tensions and lead to wider conflict in the region.

Iran and Palestine called for an OIC meeting in the Saudi coastal city of Jeddah. This organization refers to itself as the collective voice of the Muslim world.

Saudi Arabia, the host country of the meeting, also said that Haniya’s killing was a “clear violation” of Iran’s sovereignty.

Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Walid al-Kherezi said his country rejects “violating the sovereignty of any state or interfering in the internal affairs of any country”.
