Madaripur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AH Salauddin confirmed the matter on Monday (August 26) afternoon.
The deceased Tawheed Sannyamat was a resident of Suchiarbhanga village of Ward No. 8 of Mustafapur Union of Madaripur Sadar Upazila.
In addition to Sheikh Hasina, four former MPs from Madaripur have been made defendants in this case. They are Shajahan Khan, AFM Bahauddin Nashim, Abdus Sobhan Golap and Nur-e Alam Liton Chowdhury. Apart from this, the other defendants include Madaripur District Awami League President Shahabuddin Ahmed Molla, General Secretary Kajal Krishna Dey, former District Council Chairman Munir Chowdhury, former Madaripur Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman and Shajahan Khan’s son Asibur Rahman Khan, former Municipal Mayor Khalid Hossain Yadsah of District and Upazila Awami League. Several leaders and workers are accused. There are 500 to 700 more unidentified accused.
According to the case, on July 19, there was a three-way clash between Chhatra League, Jubo League, police and anti-quota activists in front of the youth development office of Madaripur city. Tawhid Sannamat son of Salahuddin Sannamat of Suchiarbhanga village of Mustafapur union of Madaripur Sadar Upazila joined it. Tawheed was shot and seriously injured. Later, when he was taken to the hospital, the doctor declared him brought dead. Later he was buried in the family cemetery at night due to fear of the government. They were afraid to even talk about this issue when the Hasina government was in power. In this incident, Madaripur District Chhatra Dal member secretary Kamrul Hasan filed a murder case as plaintiff on Sunday night.
In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madaripur Sadar Police Station AH Salauddin said that a person named Kamrul Hasan filed the case and it was accepted on Sunday night. There are 92 named and 700 unknown defendants in it. Legal action will be taken in this regard.
