In Muradnagar, Comilla, a youth called Abdul Karim Mia (35) was allegedly beaten to death after being called from his house on suspicion of being a thief. The incident took place in the Dakshinpara area of Upazila Sadar on Monday afternoon. The deceased Abdul Karim Miah is the son of the deceased Abu Miar Miah of Dakshinpara area of Upazila Sadar. It is known that Imran Miah and his cousin Rab Miah and Imran’s wife came to Karim Miah’s house on Sunday night as the house of Abdul Karim’s neighbor Abdul Wahab Miah’s son Imran Miah was stolen. At this time, Imran Mia said that his wife’s gold chain and mobile phone were stolen last night. Moreover, Imran’s wife claimed that last night Abdul Karim entered their living room and took gold chains and mobile phones. At this time, Imran got angry and took Abdul Karim out of the house suspecting him as a thief. After some time, Karim’s relatives went to look for Karim and Karim was lying unconscious on the road in front of Imran’s house. Later, the relatives rescued him and took him to Muradnagar Upazila Health Complex. He died on the way while his relatives were taking him to Gouripur. Maryam Begum, the mother of the victim, said, Rob Mia, Imran Mia called my son from home. They beat my son and forced him to drink poison and left him on the street in front of their house. At that time, when many people went to rescue Karim for treatment, Imran Mia and Rob Mia stopped everyone. They killed my son systematically. Azizul Bari Ibn Jalil, officer-in-charge of Muradnagar police station, said that the body of the deceased was recovered and sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem. I have not received any written complaint so far in this incident. However, the suspects in the incident are in police custody.
