Mobile court fines 2 lakh taka for illegally storing sand

A mobile court has fined a person 2 lakh taka for illegally storing sand in Hatia, Dwip Upazila of Noakhali. On Tuesday (May 27) morning, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mong Ehsen imposed the fine.

It is learned that the mobile court conducted a drive in the Chairmanghat area for illegally storing sand, creating public nuisance, destroying the road and harming the environment. At that time, sand trader Ibrahim Khalil was fined 2 lakh taka for confessing to the crime under the Balu Mahal and Soil Management Act. Members of the Boyarchar Police Outpost assisted in the operation of the mobile court. Hatia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Alauddin confirmed the matter. He said, “The upazila administration is always keeping a vigilant eye against illegal sand traders to protect the environment. Such campaigns will continue in the future as well.”
