Three journalists were attacked while they were collecting news about the attack, looting and arson at a house in Saptibari Bazar of Aditmari Upazila of Lalmonirhat.
‎The incident took place in Saptibari Bazar area on Friday (May 16) at around 11 am. Habib, son of Hafez Ali of the area, and his gang attacked, looted and arsoned the house of local Ayub Ali. At that time, the three journalists were attacked while performing their professional duties while recording a video of the vandalism.
‎The three journalists who were attacked by the Habib Bahini gang have been rescued and admitted to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital. The three injured journalists are Faruk Ahmed Surjo, the Lalmonirhat district correspondent of Dainik Bhorer Chetna, Khairul Alam, the district correspondent of Dainik Janabani, and Rabbani Ahmed, the district correspondent of Dainik Gantadanta.
‎‎Locals said that this morning, Habib, the son of Hafez Ali, the accused in the rape attempt case in Saptibari area, attacked, looted and set fire to the house of the plaintiff Ayub Ali with a force. When they went to record a video of such news, the three journalists were attacked by the teenage gang leader Habib and his gang. Later, the three journalists were rescued by the locals and admitted to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital in their injured condition.
‎‎In this regard, Aditmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ali Akbar came to see the three injured journalists at Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital and said that the police are trying to arrest the teenage gang leader Habib and those who committed this incident.
Meanwhile, regarding the complaint, when an attempt was made to talk to accused Habib on his mobile phone, his mobile phone was found to be switched off.
