The A-League government led by Sheikh Hasina came to power by winning the elections in December 2008. The A-League government is still in power for three consecutive terms. After 14 years of continuous power, he entered into 15 years.
In the history of 51 years of independence, no government has ever developed so much in the district for almost 15 consecutive years, as much as the A-League government has done. This development has been made possible through planning and implementation of the plan. The far-reaching thinking and philosophical intention of Bangabandhu’s daughter, leader Sheikh Hasina, can be seen as the reason for the overall development of the country in the last 15 years.
Lalmonirhat district has extensive development in education, medical, communication sector. Teesta Sheikh Hasina Road Bridge and Sheikh Hasina II Road Bridge (Mahipur) have been constructed over Teesta River. As a result of which
The distance of this district with Rangpur has reduced by about 12 km. Sheikh Hasina II Dharla Bridge has been constructed on the Dharla river at Kulaghat in the district headquarters. As a result of which several upazilas of Kurigram district are connected with this district by road. Also numerous small bridges and culverts have been constructed in the district.
The development in the education sector is visible in this district, currently there is 1 university. There are Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University, 35 colleges, 163 secondary schools, 43 lower secondary schools, 78 madrasas, 754 primary schools, 3 polytechnic institutes. In 2019 South Asia’s only Civil Aviation University (Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Civil Aviation University) currently PTI has been started for primary teachers training-centre, training is being done in various courses at Lalmonirhat in technical training center for job creation of unemployed. The acquisition of around 650 acres of land for Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation University is in the final stage.
Construction of new building of modern 100 bedded diabetic hospital and hospital commissioned under PPI project. There the common people of the district can get medical services at low cost. The 100-bed Sadar Hospital has been modernized to 250 beds. 8 storey modern building has been constructed. Govt Nursing Institute started. The oxygen gas storage plant has been constructed and launched since the Corona period. Moreover, e-services have been delivered to the masses through the digitization program. Digital e-service center has put an end to people’s suffering. All land services are now available through a short period of time, including cancellation of land deposits. All the people are enjoying the benefits of Digital Bangladesh.
As Lalmonirhat district is bordered, the people of numerous seat mahals were helpless and deprived for ages. They could not exercise their right to vote. In the light of the Mujib-Indira agreement of 1974 during the current government, the land of 111 Indian enclaves has now become the wealth of this country. These deprived slum dwellers are now on their way to prosperity. The enrollment rate in this district has dropped from 51% to 20℅. A specialized 100-bed mother and child hospital has been constructed in Kaliganj of the district.
Modern new express trains have been introduced for direct Dhaka travel from Lalmonirhat, new pickups and patrol vans of Officers (OC) have been extended to every police station in the district, academic buildings have been officially constructed in almost every government private school. Moreover, the development of the model mosque in the district in the last 15 years is unlikely.
All kinds of corruption and irregularities have come to an end since the A-League government came to power. When the BNP-Jamaat coalition government was in power in the district, the common people fell under the spell of looting, corruption and irregularities. People’s life was full of theft, dacoity, terrorism. The people of the district are living in peace during the tenure of the present government.
Since last few years, the recruitment of district police has become transparent. This gives opportunity to poor and talented students. If the successful development journey of the Sheikh Hasina government continues, Bangladesh will turn from a middle-income country into a developed country.
General Secretary of Lalmonirhat A’League and Chairman of Zilla Parishad Ed. Matiar Rahman said, we have developed enough in this district like the development of the whole country which is visible all around. In order to maintain this trend of development, the Mogulhat Shoal port, the conversion of the air base into an airport and the establishment of an economic zone in the district and the launch of the Three Bigha Corridor Express are in progress.
