On the occasion of the 8th founding anniversary of Chitmahal Exchange, a discussion meeting and cultural program was held at Lalmonirhat under the theme “Sheikh Hasina’s Two Eyes, Development of Slum Residents”.
On July 31 (Monday), the people of Banspachai village in the eastern enclave Banspachai village celebrated this day in a festive atmosphere on the 8th foundation anniversary of Chitmahal Exchange in the grounds of Chaleha Sarkar Private Primary School in Kulaghat Union of Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila.
Organized by former enclave residents, Banspachani Bhitnarkuti, Kulaghat, Lalmonirhat, discussion meetings and cultural programs were held on the anniversary day.
Also 8th foundation anniversary cake and candle lighting at Shaheed Minar installed in the school grounds.
Ferdowsi Rahman Beauty, president of Banspachai Chaleha Sarkar Non-Government Primary School presided over, Lalmonirhat District Commissioner Mohammad Ullah was present as the chief guest. The program was inaugurated by Zilla Parishad Chairman and General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Lalmonirhat District Branch Ad Matiar Rahman.

It should be noted that the residents of this former enclave, after being freed from a long 68-year captivity, united with the main part of Bangladesh on this day on July 31, 2015. The long-deprived countries, nations and people without identity have realized the taste of freedom in these 8 years. Having regained their basic rights, the present government took special projects to meet all the needs of slum dwellers, including roads, electricity, education, community health services, more seriously to improve the quality of life of slum dwellers.
The enclave residents have been holding various events every year to commemorate the day they were freed from this long imprisonment.
Harun-ur-Rashid, the former president of Chitmahal Exchange Committee, said, “After a child is born, he grows up with his name, identity, and privileges of the state. We who were the residents of Banshpachai Chit Mahal were like deprived and neglected nomadic people.
He also said that our Prime Minister has realized that suffering. Give us back the guarantee of our normal life on this day. In just 08 years, 68 years of imprisonment has given us back all the rights of life, therefore, we former enclave residents are grateful to the honorable Prime Minister Jannetri Sheikh Hasina.
