The police arrested the driver and assistant of the microbus along with 100 bottles of Phencidil from the Teesta barrage of Hatibandha in Lalmonirhat.
OC Shaha Alam of Hatibandha police station confirmed the matter around 8 pm on Tuesday. Earlier in the afternoon, the microbus with Phencidil was seized from Checkpost No. 5 of Teesta Barrage of the upazila.
The arrested are microbus driver Shanto Mia, son of Shahjahan Mia of Rasulganj village of Patgram upazila and assistant Shraban Islam, son of deceased Abdur Rahim of the same village.
It is known that on the basis of secret information, the microbus left from Patgram of Lalmonirhat on the way to Rangpur was suspiciously detained by the police at Doani check post. After searching the car, 100 bottles of Phencidil were recovered from a bag kept in a fancy way.
Hatibandha Doani outpost in-charge Dipta Kumar Singh said, they admitted during the initial interrogation that they were taking the Phencidil to Rangpur. On Wednesday, Hatibandha police station will file a case against them under the drug law and send them to jail through the court.
