On 13 February 23 people were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG truck and a truck in Khetlal Upazila of Joypurhat. Another woman was injured in this incident. The accident took place on Monday (February 13) around 11:30 a.m. in Malipara area of municipality on Jaipurhat-Bogra regional road.
This fact was confirmed by the officer-in-charge (OC) of Kshetlal police station. Rajibul Islam The deceased are CNG driver Amjad Hossain (50), son of Rabia Hossain of Itakhola Bazar in Kshetlal Municipality of the district, Nafiz Hossain (20), son of Rafiqul Islam of Herakul Chowdhurypara Mohalla of Yatri Municipality of that CNG, Sirajul Islam, a resident of Dhamurhat Upazila Sadar of Naogaon and Imam of Jame Masjid of Nashirpur Village of Kshetlal Upazila. (60), Shahnaz Parveen (46), wife of Bulbul Hossain of Kshetlal Upazila Kadhigudampara, and Shahinur Akhtar (50), wife of Ferdous Hossain, an official of Kshetlal Upazila BRDP and a resident of Bulupara Mohalla, Joypurhat Sadar. Laila Nasreen Jahan, Kshetlal Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer and resident of Rupnagar, Joypurhat Sadar, was injured. CNG was coming from Jaipurhat towards Kshetlal town with passengers. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kshetlal police station Rajibul Islam said over the phone that the police reached the spot and recovered the bodies of two people.
Three more died on the way to the hospital. Also, a woman is under treatment at Joypurhat Modern District Hospital with serious injuries. However, the truck was seized after the accident, but the driver and his assistant escaped. At that time, the killer truck was caught but the driver escaped. The police operation continues.
