Dr. Sadiq went to the UK on July 5 at the invitation of ‘Sahti Sahitya Parishad’, an organization of expatriate poets and writers in the UK. He remains in the UK until Wednesday. While talking to this reporter on phone from UK on Tuesday afternoon, Dr. Sadiq said, when I joined PSC on November 3, 2014, I heard the name ‘Abed Ali-Abed Ali’, but I never met him. This time I saw his picture or video footage in the media.

Abed Ali, a former driver of the Public Works Commission (PSC), was very influential in the PSC. His influence was so great that the then officials of PSC had to get a lot of momentum to fire him after his dismissal.

Dr. Sadiq said, “After I joined, I heard from old colleagues that many PSC officials also admired him. When I was appointed as the chairman of PSC on May 2, 2016, I tried my best to ensure that no Abed Ali was created in PSC.

He said that after Abed Ali was dismissed for various misdeeds, the investigation committee which was formed to investigate his irregularities and corruption had to be very strict.

The former chairman of PSC said, Dr. When Zinatun Nesa Tahmida Begum and ATM Ahmedul Haque Chowdhury were PSC chairman, Abed was the PSC chairman’s driver. When Ikram Ahmad was the chairman, he was sacked. Later he was fired.
He said, I served as chairman during the period from 34th BCS to 40th batch preliminary. During my tenure I have tried to uphold the dignity of this constitutional institution and fulfill the expectations of lakhs of candidates towards PSC.

Meanwhile, the former chairman of PSC ATM Ahmedul Haque Chowdhury said that Abed Ali was the driver of PSC. But neither he nor any chairman of PSC had a driver.
