International Standard University (ISU) Textile Engineering Department organized ‘ISU Tex Carnival-2023’ organized by Textile Club. The carnival was held on June 18, 2023 (Sunday) at the Mohakhali campus of the university. ISU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Under the chairmanship of Abdul Awal Khan, former Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Textile University Professor MA Kashem was present as a special guest. Also present were ISU Treasurer (Acting), H. T. M. Quader Newaz, Registrar Md. Lutfar Rahman, Chairperson of Textile Department Engineer Abdul Based Mia, Associate Professor of Business Administration Department Mohammad Ali. Bangladesh Textile University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shah Alimuzzaman, former Principal of College of Textile Engineering Professor Md. Abdul Khalek, Bangladesh Jute Research Institute Chief Scientific Officer Engineer Dr. were present as special guests in the first session. HM Zakir Hossain, Marks & Spencer Manager Tanveer Noor was the keynote speaker.
The ISU Vice-Chancellor said that textile engineering has a glorious history from the era of industrial revolution to the present. But the people of our country have less idea and interest in textile engineering. ISU’s Textile Carnival will play an important role in spreading this idea among people. Speakers said, the importance of textiles from birth to death is undeniable. Promotion and expansion of textile engineering should be done. Such an arrangement will enrich the university as well as create a bridge of international standard university with other universities through textile carnival. Poster presentations and quiz competitions were held in the carnival with the participation of students from 20 universities. The winners of the quiz competition were Likhanuzzaman, Rajesh Majumder, Abu Zahid; The winners of the poster presentation competition are Parvez Mridul, Abdul Mannan and Halimatus Sadia. This event was sponsored by Standard Insurance Limited and the gift partner was the world famous water purifier Torrevino. Since 2019, ISU Textile Club has been organizing various events to improve the skills of students along with quality teaching.
