On the occasion of the 126th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, a three-day birth anniversary celebration was inaugurated at the Nazrul Mancha in Darirampur, Trishal, which is associated with the poet’s memory, organized by the Mymensingh District Administration with the overall support of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
On Sunday (May 25) afternoon, Information and Broadcasting Ministry Secretary Mahbuba Farzana spoke as the chief guest on the first day of the inauguration of Nazrul’s birth anniversary.
Mymensingh Divisional Commissioner Md. Mokhtar Ahmed presided over the event, while special guests included DIG of Mymensingh Range of Police Md. Ataul Kibria, Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Mufidul Alam, Mymensingh Police Superintendent Kazi Akhtar ul Alam, and Nazrul University Syndicate Member Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Liton. Nazrul researcher Dr. Engineer Khalequzzaman and poet and Nazrul researcher Mahmudul Hasan Nizami spoke as commemorative speakers. A cultural program was held after the discussion. A colorful Nazrul rally was organized by the Trishal Press Club on the occasion of Nazrul’s birth anniversary. The rally started from the Upazila Parishad square at 11 am and circled the main roads of the city. Nazrul fair and book fair were held at Nazrul Academy ground around Nazrul’s birth anniversary. Shopkeepers came from different parts of the country. It is estimated that lakhs of people will gather at the fair every day. Additional law enforcement forces, including the army and police, have been deployed to ensure the safety of visitors and maintain law and order. Trishal Police Station OC Mansur Ahmed said that additional police have been deployed to maintain law and order. Trishal Upazila Executive Officer Abdullah Al Bakiul Bari said that the three-day Nazrul Birth Anniversary Celebration has been inaugurated by the Mymensingh District Administration in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. Police are deployed to maintain law and order.
