A shooting incident took place at the head office of Islami Bank in Dilkusha area of ​​Motijheel in the capital. Hundreds of foreigners tried to force their way into Islamic banks. When the entry was blocked, shots were fired indiscriminately.
At that time, five officers including Godown Guard Shafiullah Sardar, Officer Mamun, Abdur Rahman and Baki Billah of Islami Bank were shot dead.
Several officials of Islami Bank said that in the morning they took a stand in front of Islami Bank Tower in Dilkusha area. They protested against the unsecured, irregular loan scam. Suddenly, hundreds of people including some officers working for S Alam group tried to enter with weapons. When they were prevented from entering, the outsiders drew out their weapons and opened fire. Five officers were injured. Three of them are in critical condition. Later, when the present officers gave chase, they fled.
The underprivileged officials protested at the head office of Islami Bank last Tuesday (August 6). The officials appointed by S Alam were not allowed to enter the bank that day.
Earlier, the anti-discrimination students wrote on festoons in front of the bank’s central office, “Khuni Hasina’s accomplice Bangla Lutera S. Alam and his accomplices want to be hanged”. Names of 9 officials including Ahsanul Alam, son of bank chairman S Alam, Qaiser Ali were mentioned there.
