Ashraful Islam (Asif): Amr Mukul is announcing the arrival of Madhumas in Tarash Upazila of Sirajganj before the winter season.
The maddening aroma of those fragrant buds is spreading all around. All the mango trees are now covered with mango buds in full phalgun. Everyone is intoxicated by the scent of the mango forest. The smell of mou mou mixed in the air. The smell that captivates the human mind.Mango buds sound the message of the arrival of honey month. But the yield of mango depends on the weather. The air here is now filled with the smell of mango blossoms. From the city to the villages everywhere, the mango trees are decorated with yellow color with their buds in a unique style. On the surface of the upazila, it has been seen that every branch of the tree is covered with buds. The fragrant scent of the buds is spreading all around. However, this year, the mango crop is stagnant. Residents of this upazila are expecting a bumper crop of mangoes this year if no major natural disaster occurs. Mango once referred to Chapainawabganj and Rajshahi in the north. But this time the condition of small and medium trees is very different. According to the sources of Agriculture Extension Department of the upazila, the weather conditions required before and after mango budding are prevailing here. The ideal time for budding in mango trees is from the end of December to the first week of March. At this time, the main enemy of buds is fog. As of now, with less fog and bright sunshine in the sky, there is a 100% chance that the mango buds will be in full bloom. There is no damage to the buds of some plants. This time, the amount of buds that have come on the tree will not disturb the mango yield due to the stones. It is also known that increasing the yield of mangoes does not require much effort. It is possible to get 100% yield if the concerned are a little careful. Hopper attack and anthracnose disease usually occur after budding of mangoes. That’s why many people are advised to spray insecticides on the tree twice after the mango pods are like pea seeds. 0.25 grams of imidacloprid group liquid insecticide should be mixed per liter of water. And if it is a granular pesticide, 0.2 grams. Along with Mancozeb fungicide 0.2 gm. According to this rule, insecticides should be sprayed on mango trees. This will protect the mango tree from insect attack and produce good yield. A few other people of Abukhare of Ranirhat Chakkalamula area of the upazila said that they have planted hundreds of mango trees of different varieties around the house. These trees have already started budding. He said it will take a few more weeks for the tree to fully bloom. They also said that because the weather was favorable at the beginning of the season, the mango trees planted by the people were full of buds. However, small and medium-sized trees have more buds than large-sized trees. The sweet smell of those buds makes people dream. Tarash Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Abdul Al Mamun said, Tarash Agriculture Office is supporting the farmers by providing all kinds of information for the production of bumper mangoes.
