A human chain and protest meeting was organized by the locals under the banner of the conscious Juri Samaj at Sagarnal Chowmuhani in Juri on Monday afternoon, June 2, against the allegations of reckless extortion by journalist Monirul, son of the deceased Dhanu Mia, a carpenter and resident of Belagao in Juri upazila of Moulvibazar.
Sabbir Ahmed, an agent of Prime Agent Bank, who was the victim, spoke at the human chain, alleging Monir. Also speaking were prominent businessmen from Sagornal Chowmuhani, Muhibur Rahman Pabel, businessman Babul Ahmed, expatriate Sayem Ahmed, local residents Rumon Ahmed and Zakir Hossain, among others.
The speakers called news worker Monirul, a correspondent of Sylhet BDNews and My TV, a fake journalist and highlighted his various misdeeds. He has been carrying out information terrorism activities by taking senior officials of various departments hostage, including reckless extortion in various government and private institutions, harassing innocent ordinary people.
After the human chain, the agitated local people, who were affected, marched to Sagarnal Chowmuhani with the slogan “Hoi Hoi-Roi Roi, where did Monir Chura Gelo Kai” (where did he go?).
