SK Kamrul Hasan Satkhira: This human chain program was held in front of the Satkhira Press Club on Monday (June 9) morning.
The human chain program was chaired by Amal Mandal, a resident of Nabatkati area on the Bhomra border of Satkhira Sadar, and was addressed by Tania Khatun Ankhi, Selina Khatun, Afroza Parvin, Russell Hossain, Minar Hossain, Aisha Khatun, Khadija Sultana, Abul Kashem, Zakir Hossain, Rocky Islam, Anand Sarkar, Hossain Ali, Mahadev Das, Nur Jahan, and others.
The speakers at the human chain said that on Sunday (June 8), around 7 pm, BGB members on duty at the Bhomra border in Satkhira Sadar, including businessman Shamim Hossain, were having tea at Amal’s tea shop in the Nabatkati area. At that time, BGB special team member Imran called Shamim Hossain aside to talk. Later, before fish trader Shamim Hossain could understand anything, BGB members including Imran arrested him. At one stage, Shamim was blindfolded and handcuffed and taken to the Bhomra border BGB camp. From there, Shamim was given 25 bottles of Indian Corex syrup and sent to BGB camp 33 that night, the speakers said in their statements.
The locals further said in their statements that BGB Special Team member Imran Hossain is directly and indirectly involved in this incident. He framed Shamim Hossain, a prominent fish trader in the area, to cover up his immoral activities. The real incident is that BGB member Imran had an illicit relationship with Shila, the daughter of drug dealer Kabir Hossain, a resident of Nabatkati area. Businessman Shamim somehow saw this. The locals believe that this arrest drama was planned to frame him.
The speakers said that Shamim Hossain was handed over to Satkhira Sadar Police Station on Monday morning with a drug case.
When asked about the arrest on his mobile phone, Imran Hossain, a member of the BGB special team at the Bhomra border, told reporters that Shamim Hossain is a known drug dealer. During the arrest, 125 bottles of Indian Corex syrup were found specially hidden in the FJet version 2 motorcycle he was using. He also said that Indian rupees, Bangladeshi taka, and two phones including an iPhone-15 were seized from him. The value of the seized items is around five lakh taka.
The Ekalabasi human chain stated in their statement that there is no match between the statement of BGB member Imran Hossain and the current one. In his statement, he said that 125 bottles of Indian Corex syrup were found with fish trader Shamim Hossain. But in the press release sent from the 33 BGB head office in the morning, it was reported that 25 bottles of Indian Corex syrup and goods worth five lakh taka were seized from Shamim Hossain. And he was handed over to Satkhira Sadar Police Station with a drug case. In fact, this detention incident is completely and fabricated. He was completely falsely detained. We, the locals, strongly condemn and protest this. And we are seeking the intervention of the higher authorities of 33 BGB and the local administration to uncover the real incident and bring the real culprit to justice.
