In protest of the killing of auto parts trader Moniruzzaman Manik at Darshanamaro of Rangpur city and demanding justice, the local people blocked the Dhaka-Rangpur-Dinajpur highway and formed a human chain. Basad leader Abdul Quddus, former headmaster of Akkelpur High School Golam Azam, lecturer Shahinur Islam, teachers Mokhleshur Rahman, Amirul, auto rickshaw spoke in the human chain demanding the arrest and exemplary punishment of the killer at Darshana intersection in the city around 11 am. And Charger Rickshaw Owners Association General Secretary Anwar Kabir Sumon, Akkelpur Tarun Sangh President Abdur Rahim, local residents Jobaidul Islam, Apple Mahmud, Mokhleshur Rahman, Kaiser Alam, Abdur Razzak, Palash and others. It is known from human bond sources that Moniruzzaman left home and went to the shop as usual on May 1st morning. He was supposed to return home at 11:30 pm, but he did not return home that day. The next day it was found that a body was floating in the pond near his house. After getting to know, the family went and identified the body. Someone killed Moniruzzaman and threw him in the pond. Although a case was registered at the police station on May 2, the accused are not being caught. Therefore, local residents are forced to observe human chain and protest program. Speakers warned that if the accused is not caught within 72 hours, strict action will be taken by the local people. They wanted the intervention of the administration in this regard. Later, the program was completed by relying on the assurance of Tajhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Hossain Ali. At that time, hundreds of locals including Moniruzzaman’s wife Tahmina, daughter Mashfia, son Rifat were present. In this regard, Md. Hossain Ali, officer in charge of Tajhat police station, said, we will try to catch the accused within 72 hours.
