Tangail’s Bhuyapur an association called ‘Nab Robi Savings and Loans Cooperative Society Ltd’ has disappeared with crores of rupees of customers’ savings. The manager of the association, the owner cannot be found. All activities of the association are closed. As a result, hundreds of affected customers are suffering from the frustration of not getting their money back.
Recently, the aggrieved customers organized a human chain at the Bhuyapur Upazila Parishad premises in Tangail demanding the return of the savings and submitted a memorandum to the Upazila Nirbahi (UNO) on the same day.
According to the complaint source, Majnu Mondal, a partner of the association named ‘Nab Robi Savings and Loans Cooperative Society Ltd.’, located in Bhuyapur raw market, lured by extra profit, Md. Mofazzel Hossain Minju, Md. Aminul Islam and Nabarbi manager Haider Ali extorted money in various numbers from hundreds of people. Later suddenly the NGO people opened the signboard and disappeared with several crores of rupees.
Zakia, a victim customer of West Bhuyapur, said – ‘I have saved a few lakhs in Nabarbi. When I asked Nabarbi manager Haider Ali for that money, he said – I quit my job, I took it from the owners. When Aminul Islam and Mofazzel Hossain, among the partners of the association, approached Minju, they said that they gave money to the manager and threatened him by saying that he took it from him.
Farooq, son of victim customer Fatema Begum of Biramandi village of Bhuyapur town area, said – ‘My mother deposited Tk 10 lakh and 50 thousand on Nov Rabi. When it comes to asking for profit or real money deposited, the association has multiple partners who show each other and show fear as they are influential’.
In this regard, Bhuyapur’s ‘Nab Robi Savings and Loans Cooperative Society Ltd.’ manager Hyder Ali and one of the partners did not receive the call when contacted.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mamunur Rashid said – ‘I have received a complaint. In this regard, NGO’s concerned persons will be called and efforts will be made to return the money.
