Cancellation of the lease and fixing the ferry fare at 10 taka at Amtali-Purakata ferry ghat in Barguna due to excessive ferry charges, complete waiver of fare for students, and free passage of motorcycles, bicycles, and rickshaws on the ferry
The hour-long human chain was organized by the Amtoli Upazila branch of the Islamic ‘Shramik Andolan Bangladesh’ in front of the Amtoli Upazila Parishad Complex on Monday (May 20) at 11 am.
After the human chain, a memorandum was submitted to the Barguna District Commissioner through the Upazila Nirbahi Officer. More than five hundred people participated in the human chain.
The human chain was presided over by freedom fighter Shah Alam Talukder, Amtoli Upazila President of the Islamic Workers’ Movement. Speeches were delivered by Mufti Omar Farooq Jihadi, Maulana Yusuf Matubbar, Maulana Md. Kamruzzaman, Maulana Saiful Islam and others.
The speakers said, “We have made three demands. If these demands are not accepted within the next 7 days, we will launch a strong movement, including surrounding the office of the Upazila Executive Officer.”
