With the tireless efforts of the Thana Police to break the web of many worries and mysteries, 17 days after the disappearance of Hriday Kabiraj (22), a student of the 7th (seventh) year of Nabarun Survey Institute, Bauphal, Patuakhali, Hridyo went missing from the canal on the border of Ward No. 3 of Dashpara Union and jutha Village of Bauphal Sadar Union. The Thana police recovered Kaviraj’s half-melted clothes and used motorcycle.
On Thursday (July 27) at around 1.30 am, through the confession and location of Md. Zafar Khan, involved in the murder, the motorcycle of Hridyo Kabiraj and the melted body of Hridyo Kaviraj were recovered from the canal’s Kachuripana shack at around 11:30 on Friday. Four (4) people have been arrested from Comilla, Dhaka and Baufal in this incident. During initial interrogation, the killer Zafar stated that Hridiya Kaviraj was killed to avenge a love dispute.
The killer, Zafar Khan (24), is the son of Md Hasem Khan, a resident of Ward No. 3 of Khejurbaria village of Daspara union of the upazila. And the deceased Hriday Kaviraj is the son of Hari Kaviraj, a resident of Ward No. 1 of Daspara village of the same union.
According to the police station and the deceased’s family sources, Hridoy did not return home after receiving a call from his elder brother at around 11 pm on July 11. Later Hari Kabiraj’s father Hari Kabiraj filed a general diary at Baufal police station on July 13. When the police interrogated some of the suspects in the missing case, the killer Zafar was released claiming his innocence.
Meanwhile, on the basis of evidence that the murderer Jafar was involved in the disappearance of Hridiya, the police arrested Jafar again and interrogated him. He confessed to the police that Hridiya Kaviraj had been killed to avenge a love dispute.
The general public including the family members of the deceased Hriday held a protest march and human chain to demand the justice of the killers.
In this regard, Bauphal police station OC ATM Arichul Haque said, according to the confession of Zafar Khan, who was arrested in connection with the murder, the body of the missing Hriday Kabiraj and his used motorcycle were recovered and four people were arrested in the incident. If more people are involved in this murder through further investigation, they will also be brought under the law. A case of murder has been registered in this regard and post-mortem has been sent to Patuakhali morgue.
