The registration of pilgrims for Hajj this year started on February 8. The deadline for registration was February 23, but it was extended to February 28. But against the quota very few pilgrims are registered. Hajj has to be performed at the highest cost this time, the air fare is also about 60 thousand taka more than last year. So Hajj agencies, pilgrims are moving a little slowly. Many people want to take a closer look at the situation and then register the final step of going to Hajj. This is known by talking to the concerned people. About 200 people have pre-registered this time from my agency. Most of them are middle class. It will be possible to complete the registration of maximum 100 people. The rest say, if it decreases next year, then think about next year. And if not, he arranges to take us to Umrah. The government has informed that there is no possibility of reducing the air fare this time. Although the registration is slow, there is no doubt about fulfilling the quota of pilgrims, said officials of the Ministry of Religion and agency owners. They say that there are more people pre-registered for Hajj than there are people who can go. People are pre-registering every day. According to officials of the Ministry of Religion, Hajj registration started in the middle of May last year. Time was very short. Now there is a lot of time available to complete the activities of Hajj. Depending on the situation, the registration process may continue throughout the month of March. Maybe the pressure of registration will be more in the last time. The Holy Hajj will be held on June 27 (9th Zilhaj) this year subject to moon sighting. According to the Hajj agreement with Saudi Arabia, 127 thousand 198 people from Bangladesh will be able to perform Hajj this time. Out of this, 15,000 people will get the opportunity to perform Hajj under government management and the remaining 1,12,198 people will get a chance to perform Hajj under private management. This year, the rules of Hajj have been kept through a package under the government management. Officially, the cost of performing Hajj will be 6 lakh 83 thousand 18 taka. On the other hand, the minimum cost of performing Hajj through a private agency is Tk 6 lakh 72 thousand 618. Out of this, air fare is 1 lakh 97 thousand 797 taka, which was 1 lakh 40 thousand taka last year. Last year Hajj was officially conducted through two packages. In the case of package-1, the cost has increased by 96 thousand 678 taka, in the case of package-2, the cost has increased by 1 lakh 61 thousand 868 taka. The cost of private Hajj has increased by 1 lakh 49 thousand 874 taka compared to last year. This time the Saudi government gave 4 conditions to perform Hajj Agency owners said many people are not registering for Haj despite pre-registration due to exorbitant costs. Rising costs are also one of the reasons for slow registration, they said. According to the information of the Ministry of Religion on Monday (February 27) at 11:30 am, a total of 22 thousand 464 people have been registered. Out of this, 7 thousand 73 people have registered for Haj under government management and 15 thousand 391 under private management. On the contrary, 8 thousand 633 people are pre-registered under government management and 2 lakh 45 thousand 667 people under private management. The cost of private Hajj has increased by one and a half lakh taka Officials of the Ministry of Religious Affairs said on condition of anonymity that there is no reason to worry about the registration of pilgrims. There are many pilgrims. But registration is slow. Because the agency owners are waiting a bit, watching the situation. Pilgrims are also watching a bit. He said, basically the agency owners are negotiating with the service price in the Saudi side along with the house rent. Although they will take the full amount from the pilgrims, they are eager to earn a little more. Quota will not be fulfilled, no one is talking about such a crisis for pilgrims. The money is a little more, the air fare is more. Many may not be able to go even if they want to. But that doesn’t seem to have a negative impact on meeting quotas. But the registration time should be extended a bit more. 1918 people have performed Hajj in seven years at government expense The registration period may be extended again till March 15. However, if necessary, it will be extended till March 31. Because we have time.’ Additional Secretary of Hajj Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Motiul Islam told Jago News, Hajj registration has started. A bit slow going. We hope the quota will be filled. No complaints were received from Hajj agencies. They are registering, but it is slow.’ He said, ‘The money is a little more, the air fare is more. Many may not be able to go even if they want to. But that doesn’t seem to have a negative impact on meeting quotas. However, the registration time should be increased a little more. No need to worry about Hajj registration. There are many pilgrims. But registration is slow. Because the agency owners are waiting a bit, watching the situation. Pilgrims are also watching a bit. But we want to inform everyone concerned that there is no possibility of reducing the air fare this time. We have already taken our steps. We have done everything we can to reduce it,” said the Additional Secretary. Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAB) Senior Vice-President Maulana Yakub Sharafati told Jago News, “Registration is a little slow at the beginning.”
