Greek pole vaulter Eleni Claudio Pollack has been banned from the Paris Olympics for doping. The 27-year-old athlete has been suspended after a dope test found the presence of a banned substance in his body. This news was reported by the International Olympic Committee.
Polak is the fourth star to be banned for doping at the current Olympics. Earlier, Iraq’s judoka Sajjad Shehen, Afghanistan’s judoka Shamim Faizad and African Games boxing champion Cynthia Ogunsemilore of Nigeria were banned.
Pollock successfully completed the qualification phase in the track and field event pole vault last Monday. But could not go to the final. Because to play in the final stage, Jumper has to climb 4.40 meters in this game. But Pollack managed to climb 4.20 meters.
On Monday, the country’s anti-doping body filed a complaint against Polak with the Greek Olympic Committee (HOC). Later on Tuesday, the HOC informed that one member of the team has been dismissed. But the organization did not identify his name.
Meanwhile, Polak has denied the allegations of doping. This athlete, who participated in Tokyo Olympics in 2020, said that he is not involved in any kind of immoral activities.
“A few days ago, something was found in my sample,” Pollack said. I have never taken supplements or protein. It was below the prohibition level. So I competed in sports. I have iron problems. That’s why you have to eat red meat every day. It was definitely in the flesh. All I know is that meat contains that substance.’
