Condemning the recent attacks on mazars and Sufi shrines, the office of the Chief Adviser of the interim government said it is working to bring the people involved in such attacks to justice.

“It has come to our notice that a group of miscreants have been attacking Sufi shrines and mazars across the country for past few days,” said a press statement issued from the Chief Adviser’s press wing today.

“The interim government condemns in the strongest terms any hate speech and attack on the religious and cultural sites and Sufi shrines,” the statement said.

“The government is working to bring the unscrupulous forces involved in the attacks to book and initiate stringent legal actions against them,” it added.

The statement said, the law enforcing agencies were given instruction to take adequate measures to protect the religious shrines and cultural sites.

Bangladesh is an abode of communal harmony and peaceful coexistence where people of all religions and faiths are living for thousands of years.

“We are stating in unambiguous terms that we will remain a country of harmony and any attempt to disturb religious or cultural tolerance and harmony will be strongly dealt with without discrimination,” the statement read.
