An hour-long human chain was held in Shakra-Baria market in the last afternoon of August 27 at 5 o’clock in the afternoon, with the participation of about five hundred people of various professions, demanding the security of life and property in the Charkajal and Char Biswas Unions in the riverside Char area of Galachipa Upazila of Patuakhali. .
Children, farmers of different ages, women, girls, school and college students, businessmen participated in the human chain.
At this time, they said that since 2020, a police outpost was given in Shakrabaria market to ensure the safety of about 1 lakh 15 thousand people in the two unions of the isolated island area, due to which, drugs, murder, looting, theft, molestation, drug spread in this area. The rate was relatively low. But after the fall of the previous government on August 5th, since the police outpost was attacked, murders, robberies, threats, and the spread of drugs are constantly increasing in the Char region. Therefore, to ensure the safety of public life and property, the current government and Patuakhali District Superintendent of Police demanded to keep a permanent police outpost in Charkajal Union.
The human chain was led by local social workers, police outpost chief and landowner Md. Kazi Alauddin, and various local dignitaries.
Apart from this, various media persons were also present.
In this regard, Patuakhali District Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md. Mainul Hasan said over the phone that the matter is being looked at seriously and action will be taken soon.
