Four killed, three injured in truck-microbus collision

Four people, including three from the district’s Accounts and Finance Office and the driver, were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus on their way to training from Thakurgaon to Rangpur. Three more were seriously injured and are undergoing treatment at Thakurgaon General Hospital.

The accident occurred in the Bablu Farm area of ​​Birganj, Dinajpur district, on Monday (May 19) morning.

The deceased were identified as Zulfiqar Ali (46), an auditor of the Accounts and Finance Office of the Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Imrul Hossain (45), an assistant auditor of Pirgonj Upazila, Delwar Hossain (50), an assistant auditor of the district office, and driver Manik Hossain. The injured were Mizanur Rahman Sarkar (50), Al Mamun (40), of Gobinda Nagar Munshihat area of ​​Thakurgaon Municipality, and Nahid Hossain (32), son of Mohammad Idris Ali, of Birampur Dhanghara area of ​​Dinajpur district.

Citing eyewitnesses, the fire service and police said that seven people working at the District Accounts and Finance Office from Thakurgaon were going to Rangpur for training in a Noah microbus. On the way, when they reached the Bablur Farm area on the Dinajpur-Birganj Highway Road, a tragic road accident occurred when they collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction. Four people were killed and three were seriously injured. The condition of the injured is critical.

Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sarwar Alam Khan said the accident took place in the Dinajpur-Birganj Highway Road area. The deceased were from Thakurgaon. Highway police and fire service personnel are working at the scene.
