Five students of IU were permanently dismissed

The final decision has been taken six months after the incident of torture of Mocha Phulpari Khatun, a fresh student of Finance and Banking Department in Kushtia Islami University’s Sheikh Hasina Hall. In this, the university authorities have permanently expelled the five accused including Sanjida Chowdhury Antara, the expelled vice-president of the branch Chhatra League. Today, 15 July 2023, Saturday at 11 am, this decision was taken in the disciplinary committee meeting held in room 202 of the office of the vice-chancellor of the university.

University proctor professor Dr. Shahadat Hossain Azad said, the final decision was taken in the light of the student code of the university in the light of the report sent to us by the investigation committee of the university and the high court. Each of the five accused, including Antara, is subject to the maximum penalty of one (1) year suspension of studentship under Part-2 Section-8 of the University’s Students’ Code of Conduct-1987.

It should be noted that on February 11th and 12th, in the public room of the University’s Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall, a fresh student named Phulpari was tortured and undressed and recorded a video. Against Israt Jahan Meem and Halima Khatun Urmi of Fine Arts Department. Regarding this, four separate investigation committees were formed by the university administration and the High Court and the branch Chhatra League.

After the investigation, if the truth of the incident was proved in the light of the report, the five accused were temporarily expelled from the university on the order of the High Court. Besides, the hall administration and Chhatra League expelled the accused based on their investigation.
