Reshma and Seema, successful pekin duck farmers of Gumardah village of Naogaon Sadar Upazila, said that private development organization Mousumi supported them by giving them 50 ducks each, food assistance, cost of loft construction, vaccination and advice. Now their ducks are marketable. The cost for 100 ducks is Tk 24-25 thousand. 60-65 thousand will be sold according to the current market price. Peking duck meat is very tasty, nutritious and tender so people of all ages can eat it. Compared to other breeds of ducks, its diseases are less. They also said that Peking ducks look beautiful and gain weight in a short period of time. Being larger than other ducks, profits are high. So many people have expressed interest in rearing this duck.

As this duck is fast growing, more income can be earned.
District Livestock Officer Mihir Uddin said, apart from the government, an NGO named Naogaon Moushumi, funded by Pallikarma Sahikah Foundation, is helping women in rearing Peking ducks. Those who will show interest in rearing these ducks as it is profitable He assured them of full cooperation.
