Demand for Speedy Trial and Maximum Punishment for the Perpetrators of All Child Rape and Murder Cases, Including Ramisa
The Bangladesh Women Journalists Center (BWJC) has expressed deep concern over the ongoing incidents of rape and murder of girl children across the country. The organization has also demanded speedy trials and the highest punishment for the perpetrators involved in all child rape and murder cases committed so far, including the case of Ramisa.
These demands were raised during a protest human chain organized by the Bangladesh Women Journalists Center (BWJC) in front of the National Press Club on Sunday (24 May 2026) . The slogan of the program was: “We Don’t Want Promises, We Want Justice.”
The program was chaired by Nasimun Ara Haque Minu, President of the Bangladesh Women Journalists Center. Speaking at the event, she said that in the last five months alone, 118 children have been victims of rape, while 17 children were murdered after being raped in the country. These incidents have created deep anxiety among parents and guardians regarding the safety of their children.
In such a situation, she demanded the speedy trial and maximum punishment under the law for those responsible for all child rape and murder cases, including Ramisa and Ira, along with ensuring stronger protection and safety measures for children.
Leaders and members of the Bangladesh Women Journalists Center, along with journalists from various media outlets, were present at the program. (Press Release)
