Two mango trucks were seized on Satkhira bypass road in the early hours of the morning under the leadership of Arafat Hossain and Nazmul Hossain Roni Sagar, who were identified as coordinators of the student movement against discrimination. Later, 60 thousand taka was taken from one of the trucks and released! The other truck was seized after the alleged coordinators demanded 1 lakh taka from the driver of the mango truck, Masud, when the truck driver Masud refused to pay the money.
The mango truck was stopped and the Upazila Nirbahi Officer was called and the mango truck was seized!
It is worth noting that the Satkhira Deputy Commissioner’s official announcement set the date for the Satkhira Gobindabhog mango collection as May 5 – two days before that, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shoaib Hossain destroyed the mangoes!
The destruction of 9 metric tons of mangoes worth several lakhs of taka has created anger among mango traders and the public!
When asked about this, mango trader Faruk Hossain told this reporter! I bought mangoes from the tree, my mangoes have not been treated with any chemicals!
Since Shyamnagar Upazila is a saline area in the southern part, Govinda Bhog mangoes have already started ripening!
He destroyed my mangoes by giving false information only because he could not pay the coordinators’ fees. Could he have auctioned them? Instead, he is destroying all the mangoes! I am demanding justice from the government through a fair investigation.
