An expatriate named Khairung Islam Khokon (40) was killed in an arbitration meeting in Brahmanbaria. The incident took place at Kodda Korabari area of ​​Vasudev Union of Sadar Upazila around nine o’clock on Saturday night. Khokon, a resident of Italy, is the son of deceased Abu Saeed of that village.
At least 10 people from both sides were injured in this incident. After getting the information, the police recovered the body and sent it to Brahmanbaria district headquarter hospital morgue. 10 people were arrested and taken to the police station on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
Locals said that a few days ago, Shah Alam of the same village plowed the paddy field of Malai Mia of Kodda village. Malai Mia owes 500 taka for plowing. For the last few days, there was a dispute between Shah Alam and Malai Mia over the demand for this money. Arbitration was called on Saturday night to settle the matter. During the course of the arbitration, the two parties first started a verbal spat. Later, people from both sides clashed with indigenous weapons. During the encounter, one of Shah Alam’s supporters named Khairul Islam Khokon was killed by a bullet.
Confirming the truth of the incident, Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station Officer (OC) Mohammad Emranul Islam said that the police went to the spot and normalized the situation. The body has been sent to the hospital morgue for post-mortem. The detainees are being interrogated.
