Environment Minister orders to strengthen forest land encroachment activities

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md. Shahab Uddin has ordered the Chief Conservator of Forests of the Forest Department to intensify the eviction of illegal occupants of forest land. He said that appropriate legal measures should be continued to eradicate illegal encroachment of forest land across the country. The environment minister gave this order at the progress review meeting of the annual development program held at the meeting room of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on Thursday. The Forest Minister also directed the concerned to take necessary measures to properly look after the wild animals of Dulahajara and Bangabandhu Safari Park in Gazipur. He said, if any animal is sick, advice should be taken through experts.

The minister also said that campaigns in print and electronic media should be intensified to increase public awareness on noise pollution control. Also, the ongoing campaign to curb air pollution should be continued. The minister said that all development programs should be implemented properly. Ministry Secretary Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Additional Secretary (Administration) Iqbal Abdullah Haroon, Additional Secretary (Climate Change) Md. Moniruzzaman, Additional Secretary (Environment) Sanjay Kumar Bhowmik, Additional Secretary (Environmental Pollution Control) Md. Mizanur Rahman NDC, Director General of Environment Directorate Dr. Abdul Hamid and Chief Conservator of Forests Md. Amir Hossain Chowdhury along with heads of various departments and senior officials of the Ministry were present.
