Sohel Ahad, Brahmanbaria Correspondent : Sahitya Academy, a traditional organization of Brahmanbaria district, has been involved in the practice of literature and culture for four decades. The organization vowed to practice drama, recitation and literary culture and started its journey on February 4, 1983, passing through various ups and downs and became a banyan tree in the Sahitya Academy district. Today, the organization has reached its forties with a strong belief in the district’s leading role in the free drama movement, the dictatorial movement of the 90s. The hall room of the traditional Annada Government High School in the city has turned into a meeting place for the young and old members of the organization. The session started at 9:30 in the morning, first in memory of late members Manwara Begum, Partha Guha Sarthi and Saiful Islam Ripon. A minute’s silence was observed to pay respect to them. At the beginning of the session, Sahitya Academy instructors Nirjoy Hasan Sohel, Nusrat Jahan Bushra and Ripon Debnath read their careers. Board of Directors member Farooq Ahmed Bhuiya read out the proposal in the name of mourning the famous people of the country who were lost in the past year. The annual report of the organization was read by the re-elected General Secretary Nurul Amin. The chief guest at the annual general meeting was Brahmanbaria Zilla Parishad Chairman Jodhahat Vir Muktijoddha Al Mamun Sarkar, Chief Executive Officer of Brahmanbaria Municipality was the special guest. A. Kuddus Adviser Advocate Abu Taher presided over the annual general meeting. Manikaratan Sharma was the moderator. According to the constitution of the organization, since there is a provision to form a committee every two years, president Kabi Jaidul Hossain and general secretary Nurul Amin have been reinstated in this committee and Farida Nazmin, head teacher of Annada Government High School, a member of Sahitya Academy, has been added to the advisory council.
