Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md. Shahab Uddin said that as a part of increasing the capacity of the Forest Department in comprehensive afforestation activities across the country, initiatives have been taken to reform offices. As the various office buildings and residences of the Forest Department in Elksha are unusable, the Forest Department has taken initiatives to properly construct the offices and residences of the Forest Department. In view of a feasibility study, instructions have already been given to the Forest Department to take necessary measures to formulate the project for the implementation of the said works.

The environment minister said these things in the chief guest’s speech at the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the rest house cum office building and inauguration of the bit office of the range sadar of the forest division of Patnitalar upazila of Naogaon district on Saturday.

The Forest Minister said, “During my visit in November 2019, I found the offices of the Forest Department under the Paikbanda Range to be in a dilapidated condition and the Forest Department staff were performing their duties in the sun, wet with rain.” Moreover, the offices and residences under Paikbanda range have become unfit for habitation as they were built long ago. Therefore, I immediately order the construction of Paikbanda bit office from the revenue sector. I inaugurated the construction of the newly constructed Paikbanda Bit Office and Paikbanda Range rest house cum office building some time ago. Dilapidated buildings across the country will be constructed in this way. As a result, it will be easy to carry out extensive forestry activities across the country including Naogaon. If our activities continue like this, inshallah we will be able to achieve the goals of SDG.
